About the role

As our College Admissions Consultant, you will be able to work closely with high school students in establishing a detailed strategy and planning to apply for colleges. You will work with the Executive Team and our Director of Education to determine how to optimize AAMPLIFY’s resources for AAMPLIFY students when they prepare for personal statements, applications, and interviews. 

If you are passionate about assisting low-income students by making higher education accessible -- we’re looking for you! This is a unique opportunity to make an impact on the AAPI community, join an emerging nonprofit with a bold mission, and to boost your resume by building relevant skills in counseling, college admissions and non-profit work.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Meet with students (virtually) to guide them through the brainstorming, writing and finalizing of college personal statements and applications. 

  • Research colleges and provide recommendations for AAMPLIFY students.

  • Contribute to the research efforts of AAMPLIFY and increase the wealth of institutional knowledge available to AAMPLIFY.

  • Support a broader community effort to raise the visibility of the AAPI community.

Who we’re looking for:

  • College student or young professional

  • Lover of storytelling, higher education, and helping students smash ceilings and barriers

  • Background in education, writing, or counseling is preferred

  • Strong writing and problem-solving skills

  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Passion for empowering underserved AAPI youth to become social justice leaders

About AAMPLIFY

AAMPLIFY is an education and charitable non-profit that empowers underserved Asian Pacific American youth to become social justice leaders. Every year, we host a Social Justice Leadership Program for low-income high school students that aim to pursue careers in law, government, non-profit or social enterprise. Our program includes an intensive summer training and ongoing development with rotations in leadership, social justice and college/career planning. By helping these students recognize their leadership potential and ability to change the world, we give a voice to the needs of our community.
